„Blues for Alice“ wurde 1951 von Charlie Parker komponiert. Aufgenommen hat er das Stück 1951 für Verve Records, mit dabei waren Red Rodney (tp), John Lewis (p), Ray Brown (b) und Kenny Clarke (dr). Typisch für „Blues for Alice“ sind die Harmonisierungen von Charlie-Parker. Dabei sind nur noch die Harmoniestufen der Takte 1, 5 und 9 mit dem Originalblues identisch. Die Zwischentakte sind mit Quintfallsequenzen ausgefüllt, die nach dem II-V-I-Schema nahezu grenzenlos eingefügt werden können.
